Q: What is the biggest challenge you have had to overcome in your position?
A: With growth comes evolution. As we grow, things may not move as quickly as we had hoped. Therefore, there is a requirement to manage expectations both with external and internal clients.
Q: Are there any books you have read lately that you would highly recommend?
A: You are probably thinking it would be related to business, however for an easy read with some odd facts and insights The Book of Unusual Knowledge would be something I would suggest.
Q: What keeps you inspired and motivated in life?
A: As much as this question appears to be quite simple to answer on the surface, as one begins to ponder the inspirational impact of parents, spouse, friends, educators, colleagues, media etc. - I really need to step back in awe as I am a byproduct of all of them and more.
In retrospect, I would have to say my parents. Theirs is a generation where the story resonates with all of us; two landed immigrants in a new country with a dream of success. From halfway around the world, they arrived in Canada, unable to speak English, but with passion, integrity, and the willingness to work long and hard to succeed. They were even more eager to share their successes with family and friends. Therefore, when you ask “What keeps you inspired and motivated” – Mom and Dad!
And let us face it... I am blessed with a fantastic support system in my wife.
Q: What kind of hobbies do you have outside of work?
A: I am surprisingly good with my hands and like to tinker, whether fixing a leaking faucet or at the BBQ, but if you ask anyone who knows me it will be golf and cooking for family and friends.
Q: If you could only listen to one genre of music for the rest of your life, what would it be? Any specific artists?
A: Luckily, at any given time, whether cooking or sitting outside on a summer’s night, the music is set to random. (Lucky me!)
Q: What is something about your life that would have surprised your younger self?
A: I have thought about this for some time now – working abroad numerous times and the ability to adapt to various cultures whether business or social and appreciating the distinct differences which make them unique.
